North Brunswick woman killed in second Route 1 fatal crash in two weeks

A 41-year-old North Brunswick, New Jersey, woman lost her life in a car accident on Route 1 Tuesday. The fatal car accident occurred just after 9:00 Tuesday evening in North Brunswick. Authorities say that the fatal accident victim was driving through the intersection of Route 1 and North Oaks Boulevard when her car was broadsided by a Dodge Durango.

Authorities say that the North Brunswick woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Prosecutors reportedly are reviewing the evidence uncovered during an investigation into the fatal car accident. Police believe that the man driving the SUV, a 30-year-old North Brunswick resident, was traveling without his front and rear lights illuminated at the time of the late evening crash.

Ferrari and motorcycle accident near the Meadowlands claims one

A 56-year-old Kinnelon man lost his life during a motorcycle commute to the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford Sunday morning. The man reportedly was riding his motorcycle on Berry's Creek Road, while en route to work. While on the service road that wraps around the parking lot, his motorcycle was struck head-on by a Ferrari driven by 28-year-old Dumont resident.

The fatal motorcycle accident was part of a chance encounter between the Sunday morning commuter and two employees of a company that rents out high-end sports cars.

The motorcycle rider was helping to build a set for the upcoming Electric Daisy Festival and was reporting to work around 7:45 Sunday morning at the Meadowlands. Two men who work for the high-end sports car rental company were returning to the entertainment complex after filling two Ferraris at a nearby gas station. The Ferraris were part of an event the company has been staging at the Meadowlands Race Track.

Drunk driving charges upgraded in fatal East Hanover accident

Prosecutors have upgraded the criminal drunk driving charges against a Parsippany woman who is accused of killing a community leader in East Hanover. The 49-year-old man was killed while standing next to his parked vehicle along Ridgedale Avenue in East Hanover Saturday.

Authorities say the man's pickup truck was parked in a space parallel to the roadway, and the fatal accident victim was standing next to the driver's side door. Police say that the Parsippany woman drove off the roadway, struck the East Hanover man and that her car continued traveling another 60 feet before slamming into other cars, which were parked in a parking lot.

The car and pedestrian accident victim suffered fatal personal injuries in the alleged drunk driving accident. The fatal accident occurred Saturday afternoon just before 1:50 in the afternoon. Originally, authorities charged the 32-year-old woman with a series of DWI and reckless driving charges, including a second-degree vehicular homicide charge.

Co-workers jump to aid of workplace accident victim who fell into vat of acid

A nightmarish accident at an industrial site in northern New Jersey left a roofing contractor with serious injuries. Four other workers, who heroically came to the original workplace accident victim's aid, suffered a variety of injuries ranging from abrasions to serious injuries. The original accident victim fell 40 feet when the roof collapsed, dropping the roofing contractor into a tank of corrosive nitric acid.

The roofing contractor was reportedly completely submerged in the acid, when a second worker jumped into the acid to rescue the victim of the fall accident. The more co-workers rushed to the tank to pull the roofing contractor out of the corrosive acid.

Police: Driver accused of DUI in fatal Pittsgrove head-on accident

New Jersey State Police believe that a Vineland woman was under the influence when she was involved in a head-on collision that claimed the life of a Deerfield Township woman. Authorities say that the 19-year-old Vineland woman was heading east on Almond Road in Pittsgrove Township when the car crossed over into oncoming traffic, resulting in the fatal car accident.

A 39-year-old Deerfield Township woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Authorities say the force of the impact caused the Deerfield woman's Toyota to spin out, before rolling over and leaving the surface of the road. The Toyota came to a rest on the shoulder. The Vineland woman was driving a Ford Explorer, which also rolled, and was found on its roof in the middle of the road after the wreck.

Officials say road involved in Bronx Zoo accident one of most dangerous

The recent fatal car accident at the Bronx Zoo occurred on one of the most accident-prone stretches of highway, according to a federal report. Authorities included a stretch of the Cross River Parkway as being among the top 5 percent of all roads with the highest rates of serious car accidents.

The area along the parkway included in the report by the state Department of Transportation last year stretched from the fatal accident scene to roughly five miles to the south to the Bronx Express Parkway.

Authorities say that seven people perished in a car accident Sunday when a Honda Pilot went terribly out of control on the Bronx River Parkway. The 200-foot crane snapped, with the top portion coming off and crashing into a building located across the street before cascading to the street below.

Three New Jersey men in motorcycle accident while returning home from trip

Three New Jersey men were involved in a tragic out-of-state motorcycle accident that left one of the men dead, and the two others with serious personal injuries. The deputy director of the Chatham Borough Department of Public works was killed in the accident when he and the two riders he was traveling with slowed for traffic. Police say that a man driving a Chevy Tahoe failed to slow and slammed into the three cyclists.

The three men were on their way home to New Jersey after a cross-country motorcycle trip when the motorcycle accident occurred on I-40 in Arkansas. Police say that a minivan had caught on fire, creating a traffic jam along the interstate. Prior to the motorcycle crash, a separate fatal accident and three tractor trailers were involved in a truck accident due to traffic.

Subway worker suffers burn injuries in electrical accident

A veteran New York subway operator is counting his blessings after he was set ablaze in an electrical incident last week at the 239th Street Yard. "It's a miracle I'm alive," the 45-year-old husband and father reportedly said from the burn center at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx. The worker was set ablaze in a workplace accident that occurred on what should have been the subway operator's day off.

Reports indicate that the subway worker accidentally dropped a 200-pound piece of equipment last Thursday while working an overtime shift. The large piece of metal equipment landed onto an electrified third rail in the subway, causing an electrical explosion, injuring the subway worker.

Teen killed, three injured in Washington Township car accident

One high school senior was killed and several people sustained serious injuries in a car accident Saturday night in Washington Township. Authorities say that a Saturn and a Ford pickup truck collided at the intersection of Pitman-Downer Road and Altair Drive around 11:40 p.m.

An 18-year-old Washington High School senior was riding as a passenger in the back seat of the Saturn, and authorities say that she was trapped in the wreckage and had to be extracted from the vehicle after the crash. She reportedly was pronounced dead after arriving at the hospital.

A second 18-year-old passenger was ejected in the crash. All three teens who were in the Saturn were taken to Cooper Hospital Trauma Center. News reports do not indicate the condition of the two survivors from the Saturn.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 48-year-old Sewell woman, was also injured. She was transported after the crash to Kennedy University Hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries. Her passenger, a 47-year-old Sewell man, reportedly escaped injury in the wreck.
